AERO 2013 to once again include the full range of general aviation exhibitors - new this year: Avionics Avenue and Observe by Air - special exhibition in the Engine Area
AERO EXPANDS ITS FOCUS ON SPECIALIZED FIELDS OF AVIATION
Friedrichshafen, Germany - Preparations for AERO (24 to 27 April 2013) are in high gear, and Project Manager Roland Bosch is confident that the 21st edition of the global show for general aviation in Friedrichshafen will once again have a strong attendance: "The response has been fantastic.” In the new Avionics Avenue area of the exhibition, trade visitors will be able to learn all about on-board electronics and cockpit equipment. The Engine Area will feature drive systems based on a variety of technologies, as well as maintenance equipment and engine management systems. Helicopters will also be a focus of the show.

The event will feature a comprehensive overview of over 200 aircraft, including gliders, ultralight and motorized planes, helicopters, gyrocopters, turboprops and business jets. "We have continued to expand our specialized offerings, and the trade show will once again offer a wide range of products in every area of general aviation,” says Project Manager Roland Bosch.
The exhibition on Lake Constance is attended by all the industry’s leading players, with a total of over 600 exhibitors from 30 countries and 600 journalists from around the world expected at the 2013 edition. Trade visitors at the exhibition are deeply rooted in the industry. More than 30,000 visitors are expected to attend, and over 60% of the visitors surveyed have a pilot license.
Various new and established themed areas will be open to visitors at the exhibition, in which experts will offer information on specialized fields of aviation.
Engine Area
For the second time, the 2013 edition of AERO will highlight technologies and drive systems of various types in the Engine Area. Piston engines, electric drive systems and jet turbines for business and light jets will be shown. Maintenance and engine management will also be among the focuses of the exhibition, as well as developments in alternative and sustainable fuels.
Avionics Avenue
Hall A6 will include a new exhibition area devoted to avionics. Visitors will be able to learn all about flight control, management and communications systems, navigation devices, as well as weather, air and ground radar systems from various manufacturers. Garmin, the global market leader in mobile navigation solutions, will also be moving to Hall A6 and has already announced new products to be shown at the exhibition. In the avionics test area, visitors will be able to try out the latest devices in a black box under nighttime visibility conditions.
AEROCareer
The career fair for general aviation will offer a comprehensive range of information for students and professionals about jobs, training options and career prospects in aviation. Employers and universities will be on hand to present their career offerings and speak with attendees. Various free workshops and a large job fair will be offered for visitors looking to start their careers.
Observe by Air
Research aircraft are also playing an increasingly important role in general aviation. Various types of planes from the area of general aviation, as well as civilian UAVs, also known as drones, are equipped with sensors and measurement devices for environmental research and earth observation. The special exhibition Observe by Air will feature civilian applications as well as various research projects involving manned and unmanned research flights.
